September 11th, 2001 is a day everyone will remember. I am a Sophomore, and I was sitting in my English 2 class at Biloxi High, when the first plane hit the first world trade tower at 8:45am. The entire school was shocked, and in every class room in that school, students and teachers were watching the TV, not doing work, stunned and crying over what had happened. We are in Bilox, Mississippi, and we are quite a ways from New York or Washington D.C, but this has affected our lives just like it has affected the people in Washington DC and New York. This is an attack against American Freedom. This is a never ending conversation and a never ending tragedy that has happened. I have asked a few of my friends to share with me their thoughts and how they are dealing with it. My friend Christina Polous, sophomore at BHS as well, said "well, I'm dealing pretty good with it and I don't see why the terrorist really even had to do this. I think they might be afraid of us or just plain hate us, and I don't think we should go bombing a country and kill innocent people because then we'd be doing the same thing they did and that'd make us hypocrites and we wouldn't have really had any reason to do it, when we're looking for a few people in particular. That's my view." She has a good point and everyone is scared and we don't want to kill innocents, and be like the terrorists. Another friend, Chase Pacey, Sophomore, said "I'm over it I care and everything but it's getting really really old. I can't go a day with out hearin' some god bless america stuff it sucks" Well, is it our fault that we want to live to have kids? Is it our fault that we want to keep our freedom and stand united as ONE? Kaylee Burrill, sophomore, said "I don't really think about it because I don't like it. So, I sort of block it out. I'm glad were doin something about it though I hate that it happend it was awful." Well, to those who aren't doing as well as the one's I've talked to, here are a few things you should think about that might get you through this. 1.) We will prevail. No matter what, we WILL prevail. 2.) We need to love each other, and stand as a United America. It is a tragic thing that has happened, and I pray that it never happens again. Fly the American Flag with pride, and pray for those who lost their lives, lost loved ones, and that have been affected in any way, in this tragic event. Donate to the salvation army, or red cross whenever possible. Take Pride in your country. We are American Citizens. We are Teenagers. We are Proud.
