Seriously. Why don't young people read anymore? I went to the Reviews section of this site and there were 11 reviews for books, that's right, count them, 11. Thats really depressing. I am one of those people who enjoy, that's right, enjoy , reading. It's not just something I do because it's assigned at school. So I find it really weird when people in my year were complaining about having to read Jane Austen in year 11 as part of the Advanced English course, when I have already read every single one of her novels at least twice.
Why has reading become classified as "uncool", or something that only losers and nerds do? And when did the (ever-diminishing number of) people who do enjoy reading, stop owning up to it? It's like there's a stigmata attatched to teenagers reading, either you dpn't do it, or if you do, you most absolutely, positively, do NOT tell anyone under the age of 40 about it.
Wake up people! READING IS COOL! I'm not kidding. It's avaiable 24/7, there's always something good on, there is always something you can relate to, and most importantly, it wont fry your brain!!
Seriously though, reading should not be classified as a lost art anymore. Let's bring it back, remove the stigmata, and turn off that goddamn idiot box!
