I had a talk with some classmates on the issue of the death penalty. Some of us agreed with it and some of us didnt agree with it.
The ones that didnt agree with it had to say this... Ok if a guy kills somebody and he gets sent to jail, putting him on death row isnt going to solve anything because the murder is already done and over with, its not going to bring the person back. So why would you put another family through the depression and stress? Some of them said that it goes against their religion. "Thou shalt not kill," well if you've read the Bible like I have God says "If you shed mans blood, by man shall your blood be shed" in other words, if you kill you should be killed also. So if you would have listened to the "Thou shalt not kill" in the first place then your blood wouldnt be shed either.
Ofcourse "If you shed mans blood by man shall you blood be shed" is what the people who are for the death penalty had to say. The way I see it is, if you take the death penalty away then that is going to make people want to kill more, because they will be like "oh if I kill this person I wont have to die myself, yeah I might have to go to jail for a while but now a days jail is a pretty nice place to live, so I can get away with murder now," but if you keep the death penalty it will make people think a lot more before they go into the bank and pull a gun out and shoot somebody because the person didnt cooperate.
If you say that you are against the death penalty its the same thing as saying that somebody like Osams Bin Laden deserves to live and should have the chance to kill and blow up more people. Think about it..... |
