I, personally am not a big fan of school. But I go to school each day, not just because I am obligated but also to see my friends and the activities. I love music and I love to sing. So Choir is very important to me. I also love sports.
These budget cuts really suck. Today I sat in my gym and listened to one of my teachers go on about several programs being cut. Which I think is very unfair. We'll be getting rid of the golf teams and soccer teams and soft ball. A lot of my friends play on the teams. The school is cutting over 20 teachers so that means our classes will be bigger. Hello! We can barely fit all the students that are in the class in the classroom because the rooms are so small. My school is the only school without an auditorium. Thats completely retarded. The school board decided to get a pool instead of an auditorium. Don't get me wrong I love the pool and swimming, but what about the plays we could put on.
I completely understand that the economy is down and that we have to make sacrifices. But the students go to school strictly for the music, sports and other programs. Not to learn. Take the cuts from somewhere else. Not the school.
Many of my class mates and friends are complaining just as I am because their sport or their favorite teacher is being cut. I got lucky my favorite teacher is getting cut, but honestly there need to be some serious changes to the school yes, but we need money to be given to the school, not taken away. |
