If you have walked into any convenience store you can't help but notice the price of cigarettes have been raising. A few years ago you could get a pack of Newports for about $2.10. Nowadays, you are looking at about $3.00-$3.50. The reasons are 1.) Lawsuits against the company's and 2.) Trying to prohibit underage smokers from smokers.
I basically want to attack my second reason in this article. But I will try for the first one too. There should be no law suits against cigarette manufacturers because there are surgeon general warnings on every single pack and carton of cigarettes made. People know what they are smoking before they inhale it and put it into they're body.
My second reason. Is raising the price for teens really doing any good? No not at all. To scrape up 2 something for cigarettes isn't that hard. You just don't buy lunch two days in the cafeteria and then you go buy your smokes. Now at 3 dollars and some odd cents the money isn't as plentiful. So that causes 3 things: theft of items for money, stolen money from parents and any convienent person, and of course the 3rd one is having cigarettes stolen out of stores. I think those are the main two reasons but the manufacturers are also greedy old bastards.
They aren't doing us any favors by raising the prices, they are in fact making America's youth be more criminal minded than they were brought up to be.
