In newspapers, magazines, and in the junk mail, our mailboxes are crammed with everyday, we see glossy, very glowingly descriptive details about an item, but when we actually go out to take a look, or perhaps order it from a catalogue, we find out that it is nothing like what was described! This has happened to me so many times.
So ok, for example, take perfume ads. Next time you might think twice, when you look at that huge,
ornate bottle, surrounded by an even more elaborate package, then around the package is a clear cellophane, then the designer seal or logo is embossed on that. Now when you actually do pay some exorbinate price, and get it home, and unwrapped, you might just take note of how very little there is of ACTUAL PRODUCT inside that huge bottle, and layers of packaging! I know, I know.....that the MASSES rule, but come on! Why can't people see the rip offs on most packaging!?
Like those "floating" jars or bottles, where the jar or bottle rests upon a little "platform" within the box, to make the final package APPEAR to be so much bigger. Pay attention the next time you go out. You'll see what I mean. I always knew that if you take a wonderful product, but put it in a cheap, plain package....NO ONE will buy it, but if you put crap in a fancy, designer package, slap a ridiculous price on it, the masses will kill each other to get to it! The competition is fierce in drug stores, supermarkets, for who can come up with the LATEST or more "gimmicky" product, in what ever category, i.e., shampoos, perfumes, skincare, etc. Gives me a huge headache with all those choices!
