A dear relation of mine (24 yrs old) holds down a good job but my family say he is very odd. He does'nt want to drive a car or travell by plane or be inivited to any family gathering. If he showed up he would go missing and consequently he is in no family photos. He would'nt go to a restaurant. Neither has he any friends. I worry about him a great deal. He lives on his own. No one ever knows anything about him and if I died no one would look out for him. I am really demented. Is this what avoidant disorder is about and is there anyway of treating it. Thank you, Lish

Avoidant or Schizoid... Maybe it is a disorder, maybe just personality type. All of what your saying about
this person seems to fit me too (only I have no job). But I don't see anything really wrong those specific
things you mentioned...

If he's in no family photos why the hell are you so interested in treating him?
