A message to Synapse from Ewokinpain. I am a 41 year old "adult" who finds your comments and attitude completely out of place in this forum.

This forum is based on BPD and should be used by anyone who has BPD or anyone who thinks they may be suffering from BPD. Also, I would encourage loved ones and friends of people with BPD to use this forum.

Your attempt to diagnose others based on simply reading their posts is arrogant and irresponsible on your part. Too many kids never receive the type of support and counseling that they require when they are young. For you to say that they are just spoiled kids is a joke. It is now a pretty well known fact that BPD generally starts in ones early to mid teens.

I would hope that forums such as this would help all people get the help that they need in dealing with BPD but, especially the younger ones. This means you also.

It took them nearly 25 years to figure out that I was not a spoiled brat kid and, that their was a legitimate reason for my emotional problems. I truly hope that these kind of forums and greater awareness and better treatments help eliminate cases like mine.

Try using some compassion and understanding, if you don't like what someone writes, then move on to a different post. There is plenty here for everyone and we should all be trying to help each other, not tear each other down. There are enough other people out there who view us a terrible light that we don't need to be doing this to each other.

I wish everyone on this forum the best. Whether they have BPD or just other problems that are overwhelming them.

Self-importance is not a trait of any condition. Its merely personality. BPD does not neccesarily change a person's entire personality... But come to think of it, SO ARE YOU Synapse!!!!!!

Haha, I don't mind. Like I said, there are people with legitimate problems. Even the depressed teenagers have legitimate problems, and I wasn't trying to draw away from that fact.

What they don't have are personality disorders, which are quite rare and the result of (usually) serious childhood trauma. And I don't hold with your agreement that 'this forum is for anyone who needs help'. You're just attracted and breeding a community of wikidiagnosed hypochrondriacs who will discuss their 'disorder' on here without seeking help and without being cured.

Unfortunately, by feeding the delusions of these meaningless kids, you reinforce the fact that they believe they are mentally traumatised, and uncurable. When in fact a simple short dosage of medication and therapy would be enough to set *MOST* of these people on their way to a happy and fulfilling life.

Depression it seems has become a synonymous term with borderline personality disorder, whether that's the fault of the psychiatric community or Wikipedia I'm not sure, but they're completely different problems. A person suffering from depression will not benefit from anything a BPD sufferer would have to say, and vice versa.

Now I'm new here, and you may not like what I have to say, but I've been through the psychiatric system. I have been cured and I therefore do believe I have a little more right to enforce my views than Fatality for example, who is a 17 year old boy who believes he has Borderline & schizophrenia when I'm quite sure he is simply attention seeking.

Argue all you want, but I think you know deep down that I'm not being completely unreasonable.

Oh ffs, at least read my f---ing post properly first. I said i THOUGHT i had BPD, but when i learnt what it was i realised i DON'T.

"at first i thought i had BPD, but i realised i obviously didn't"

See? Go back and even check it >.>

So we must be in the same boat, you once had BPD and claim to be cured, and i never have it. You are two years older only, and a lot younger than others on here. Mental illness, be it a disorder and anything else, appears at the average age of 15.

And trust me, if i were to be attention seeking, i wouldn't be doing it on an internet forum where nobody knows me and thus doesn't give a damn...

There might be some on here, who think they have BPD, but isn't that what this forum is for, to help people realise if they have it or not?

You're not being unreasonable, you're just arguing your view. The problem I have is i don't see that view, neither does anyone else.

If you think we're all whiney kids, whats making you stick around? But don't let the door hit your ass on the way out...

"I have been cured and I therefore do believe I have a little more right to enforce my views"

1)are u really been cured? because u don't sound like one. u sound like a person with serious mental illness a lot more than all of us on this forum.

2)u are not a psychiatrist or someone even closer. if u were mentally ill n now have been cured (which i doubt), then u should be more emphatic with us, as u have gone through it and u should know better. but here you are talking arrogantly, giving irresponsible and irrational comments.

3)why are u so obsessed about wikipedia diagnosis? no one on this forum has ever mentioned bout it. u the only one keep on repeating it. this shows, u r the one who use wikipedia as a tool to diagnosis yourself n everyone on this forum!!!!

Synapse, I would like to congratulate you on being cured. I will have to tell my Doctor as, according to her, you would be the first person to actually be cured of BPD.

I'm not saying your not doing great but, just like bi-polar disorder, there is no true cure. You simply learn to deal with your disorder properly and lead a productive and fulfilling life. You will still however, need to be aware of the symptoms creeping back into your life. Also, be very wary of depression, since it is the leading emotional state of BPD that leads to attempted suicides.

This info. comes from my doctor and the National Institute of Mental Health of the US.

As far as personality or mental disorders being rare in kids. In the UK alone, it is believed that 1 in 10 children suffer mental disorders. That is a pretty high number in my book. I would put a link for you below, but the forum won't let me. The source is the Office for National Statistics for the UK.

You also need to realize that posting a thread that states "professional diagnosis" and then having a 19 year old "cured" BPD patient do an evaluation over the net is pretty much fraud. You are basically impersonating a doctor with that statement.

By the way, no one has a right to enforce their views. I tried to be nice but, I find you offensive, arrogant, childish, delusional and somewhat narcissitic.

Have a nice day, Ewokinpain

Ewokinpain is correct, i live in the UK and theres a radio ad thats always on saying "1 in 9 children and teenagers will grow up to have a mental health problem". I hear it most days during my lunch hour, sipping my hot chocolate in the school canteen :o
Then that Kings of Leon song is on right after it and i swear the radio is on a giant loop >.>
I digress.

Well that's great I'm real happy for you but there is actually about a 25% cure rate for BPD and nearly all cases that don't result in suicide are dormant/gone by the age of around 30. But that's assuming everyone here has BPD, lol. Cure rates for depression are around 97% for those who seek help from a doctor. As for people who spend their time on forums chatting with other 'insane' people, well, I don't know. Maybe there isn't a cure for that.

I love the way you're all being negative as hell, feeding each other's fantasies and tricking each other into thinking you're stuck this way. THE TRUTH IS; YOU ARE ALL CURABLE. YOU DONT WANT TO REALISE THIS BECAUSE YOUR HAPPY SPENDING TIME ON THIS FORUM TALKING ABOUT YOUR LIFE INSTEAD OF SEEKING HELP.

I'm not narcissistic, I'm correct. Which is a little known condition which results in huge confidence and an inability to back down in an argument.
