So, if you have BPD and then you also have SAD does it perhaps inflate the symptoms of BPD around the winter months? I mean, symptoms of SAD are mainly depression but what if your depression from that made your BPD worsen in that you are trying to avoid the depression and you find your anger becoming more intense than usual? Or perhaps even your impulses, what if the depression caused your impulse to over-eat even more so and you really are extra "jolly" after Christmas time? Or what about your impulses in general, could you find yourself even more impulsive with everything because you are desperately seeking a way to avoid the depression.

Basically... What I wonder is does SAD have a profound impact on your symptoms of BDP? I only wonder because I'm finding my behaviour worse than usual lately, perhaps it could be because of the winter months approaching or just coincidence of what has been going in my life lately, or what if whats going on my life lately could have been boosted by BPD and an "injection" of SAD?

Opinions wanted please. Nikki xx

I never thought of this, and indeed is an interesting question. My opinion (and just that, i have no knowledge ^^ ) would be they link, and make the winter months worse. BPD can often make you feel worse, from what i see, when you're down, and SAD makes you down during the winter months, so yeah i would assume it does have an impact. Though to what extent i couldn't begin to guess.

Thanks :-) yeah I suppose it would make a difference but then generally everything affects everyone differently. There are no two people in the world who have the same disorder/condition who are going through the exact same thing. My ex partner has Rapid Cycle Bipolar and SAD and in the winter months his Bipolar is all down. Which the GP said is directly caused by the SAD therefore he is given double doses of medication during the winter months. But during Spring and Summer he is back to "normal" with the rapid cycle behaviour. So if it can affect Bipolar that way it could affect any other disorder/condition I imagine.
