| I have problem. I spend all day at work, home, and vacation researching diseases I think I may have. I mostly look up skin cancer, HIV, lupus, and lung cancer. So far this year I've had 7 HIV tests and 2 blood tests screening for cancer. Eventhough every test for HIV and cancer was negative, I literally spend hours a day looking up diseases. Recently my primary care provider at my treatment facility dropped me. I think it is because of my visits for different ailments. I have researched HIV to death! I know the percentages of infection in males, females, msm, infection rates by sex, ages, sexual orientation, and percentage of people in my area living with HIV. No matter how low the infection rate I can't get it out of my head. I am running out of excuses for testing. Every time I go to get test people working there look at me like I am nuts! If anyone can give me advice please help! | |

| Have you tried just talking to a friend or loved one? This best thing is to get things off your chest, at least for a first step. When I had problems with my OCD I would get frustrated, but then I would talk to my mom about my fears. I knew she wouldn't judge me, and try to find a solution. Also going to a psych or a therapist is good. If you feel like you can't talk to family and friends, you could always talk it out with a professional-they see stuff that you wouldn't believe so they don't judge as quickly..Like looking at you like your nuts! Horrible that is!! Hope this helps a little...I'm not sure what else would be effective. :) | |

@Addoru2021 : I believe hypochondriasis may be a result of fear, or a lack of control in your life.. It would help if you start attending to other concerns in your life that needs more attending to.. And oh.. try getting over the guiLt.. Try and reflect what I'm trying to say here.. =) |
