i guess i am. what the hell to do about it. I had a renlentlessly paranoid step-dad growing up. he hated all people including me. and my mom was mean too. being an only child i guess i got the shaft. now what? I find moving through the world extremely difficult. the thing about "are you always waiting to be betrayed" man, that was creepy. i'm always waiting for a friendship to go south.

You're one of many who 'wait for a friendship to go south'. If you 'must' assume things why not 'assume a friendship is going to be good'? Being negative pushes people away but a little positive belief will keep them knocking on your door. It doesn't sound like you had such a good childhood but you're out of that situ now so don't let their hang-ups mess up your adulthood too! Say to yourself., "No more. This is my life and I'm getting out there and having some fun." Enjoy your new-found social life!!

Well its good to be able to trust the people you have to, but lets face it, in this screwed up world of ours it only makes sense not to trust everybody. You are paranoid for a reason and the best thing to do is evaluate that reason under scrutiny and see if it is true or false and admit it if its false and move on. If its true your "paranoia" just saved you. I have been paranoid all my life and it has taken me years to be able to block the torturous mental projections of being wronged over and over again and to figure out that this was false information I was telling myself. It still doesn't go away, but I manage it in a way that does not hurt me or others. Standing up for your rights and the rights of others non-violently is a good thing.

I always wondered what my problem was,or is it more from the fact that I am unemployed and homeless?.Stress induced mental illness, lack of training, lack of good exaples to work from in learning to cope with life.....Ya gotta recognize that life just keeps getting more complicated,Ya gotta recognize that many of these problems are societal.A lot of these behaviours are contagious, especially when one is raised by looney parents.Mine were doozies.
